TOUCH Thursday No.2 Response to the prompt

TOUCH Thursday No.2 Prompt

Hi friends,

This is in response to TOUCH Thursday No.2 by author Preeti Shenoy.
If you had to tell Mark about India, what would you tell him?

Hey Mark,

You think Indian woman are gorgeous, pretty, intelligent, warm? Well, yeah that's true. We are gorgeous; even though we are not very fair or size zero still we are gorgeous or may be the wheatish-dusky skin tone and voluptuous body built make us beautiful. Well, enough of self praising. Coming to the point, the most cheerful Preeti ma'am has asked me to tell you things I feel. So here it goes. You said that Indian Men are lucky but the truth is not so. Indian Men (not all of them but many of them) are so outta their minds that they don't know how to respect womanhood. While a foreigner like you consider us as a treasure our own country men treat us like some use and throw toilet paper. You might not know how hurt I am when am writing this. While newspaper and media talk about huger crimes like rape and murder in India, I ll tell you the less known and least investigated crimes against men.

India is a country where in a woman

  • A woman should use laptops, files, etc to cover her breasts apart from wearing saree or stoles
  • Here we cant walk alone after evening 7 p.m
  • Even a co-worker or colleague might be a stalker and harrasser
  • Even a cop will ogle at us
  • Here still child marriages, slavery, human trafficking exists.
Yeah, we are gorgeous and intelligent outside but torn and worn out inside :( Hope everyone enjoy and cherish us like you do rather than making us perish by their nasty n pervert looks.

TOUCH Thursdays - Preeti Shenoy Prompt 1

Hey ppl,

This is in response to the TOUCH Thursdays hosted by Preeti Shenoy, Author.

Prompt 1

If I could have anyone I choose as my 'forever friend'/ 'life partner' , I would choose Hemalatha Nageshwaran

I would choose My Elder Sister "Hemalatha Nageshwaran". Yes indeed, this reply to the prompt is dedicated to her. She was a second mother, first teacher, childhood role model, best friend and above all a great inspiration. She has sacrificed a lot for me, loved me deeply through thick and thin. Ofcourse we do fight a lot but then there was no ego thus no hurting.

I read somewhere that  "if someone cares like a mother, protects like a father, teases like a sibling, fights like a spouse, supports like a best friend. then you both are meant to be" I guess me and my sister are meant to be since we satisfy all the above criteria.

Love You Sissy,

Cheers

Keep Calm and Rock On!!!

Heyyy peeps,

It's been really long time since I updated my blog. Just struck up as usual with college and work related chores. Now it is time to write about something that was pondering my mind for so long. ANGER. The word itself creates hate and frustration. I being the youngest and pampered daughter of my family has always felt so spoilt and pampered that I was always branded as the most short tempered person. However, life is not always a bed of roses. When I finished my high school and got into college I was lost and cornered. I have to go through a lot of miseries or should I say life was teaching me many things? Right from the frowny  faced professors to arrogant seniors I had to face troubles everywhere. I shouted, threw tantrums, cried, hated, and finally lost.

Like a ray of light on a dark dungeon, I got couple of adjusting and trust worthy friends who showered me with love and bliss and at the same time thought me how to handle the worst situations I was facing. Now looking back, 6 years have passed away. The worst of me was left behind. Yeah, I do accept am not perfect but at least am lovable and lively these days. I thought and jotted down a set of remedies that suppressed my anger.

1. Put yourself in their shoes: Before reacting to someone just think about them and think like them.
2. Meditate: This doesn't necessarily require you to sit in crooked poses and close your eyes, just close your mind for a while and open it back.
3. Love: Love is the only thing that can battle anger. Love people unconditionally. Give more love than you take.
4.  Sleep: Yeah get some ample sleep. You need to sleep the right amount to be brisk and fresh. Sleepless nights definitely spoils your mood.
5. Chocolates: Chocolates can always melt your mood. If none of the other things work, stay calm and eat chocolates so that at least you will be happy.

Trust me this is gonna work on you too especially if you are in end of your teens.

Cheers,

Sri @ Tanya

My Fav. Eateries

Dear All,

So here it goes the new post. It is going to be on the my favorite eateries out there in Chennai. Well it is tough to write down all so i chose the best 10. This list as goes

10. Saravana Bhavan - Mylapore: The saravana bhavan the old and most authentic veg. restaurant i ever knew. The mylapore branch is comparatively big. This is one hotel that is affordable and  has a good environment. My fav dish there is Sambhar rice with banana chips.

9.  Adyar Anandha Bhavan - This is another authentic veg. restaurant in Chennai. With so many branches my fav. is my very own Triplicane. Despite the rude and arrogant waiters the taste of this hotel's dishes make my mouth water. Even the aroma makes me mouth water and my fav. dish here is the Ghee masala dosa.

8. ID : ) - This one started first at satyam cinemas has tasty idlies and dosas and few other south indian tiffin varieties too. My fav items are rava idli and masala dosa :)

7. Subway - Although this is a big chain of food outlets all over the country, I include it here since modern food like these are part and parcel of our day to day life. The subway food is healthy as well as fast to deliver. My fav sub is paneer tikka in multigrain with all veggies, mayonnaise and mint mayonnaise sauce. I like the one in EA

6.  Pizza Hut - Despite so many pizza huts i like the one at spencer plaza. Pizza just the name is sufficient no more description is required.

5. Ratna Cafe - The only hotel in my area when i was a kid. However the one in my area is no more can be branded as a restaurant. Now I like the velachery branch. The fav. food there being the traditional Idly Sambhar (Mouth watering). No hotel can beat that.

4. Olives Restaurant (The Deccan Plaza) - The buffet lunch restaurant at The Deccan plaza change their menu every month at times week and they give so many varieties like Rural Repast, Punjabi Tadka, etc.

3. McDonalds: Although we go on campaigns saying french fries, burger, coke are unhealthy junk still once in a while eating in these especially with kids are awesome thing to do. Especially the desserts, even at 22 ice creams make me kid.

2. Ras Bhojan - This north indian restaurant at Mogappair is unbeatable for the north indian style food. Even the chaats available here are tasty, affordable and authentic.

1. Rajdhani - And the first position goes to Rajdhani - ek khandaani parampara is an awesome gujarati - rajastani veg thali restaurant. Although a little expensive the taste and varieties deserve the cost.

Since I am a north indian food maniac and vegetarian my list is prioritized based on that..Try in these hotels :)

Cheers,
Tanya

Fifty Shades of Grey - Review

Hi everyone,

50 shades of grey almost created a viral sensation in few weeks of its release. 50 shades of grey is an erotic novel written by E L James. Seeing the author's name I felt it was a male author but soon I realized it was indeed she and not he (after reading "about author" page). Well, not trying to be anti-feminist or something but I was taken aback by the fact that a married woman is writing an erotic novel which makes Mills & Boon look like child rhymes. However, as a woman reading the book from woman's point of view was very exciting.

The book starts with flirtatious affair between a hot, suave, rich CEO and a plain Jane.  What starts as a crush gradually develops into BDSM and it takes you to different world of lust and desire. Will life be the same for both of them after entering into this type of relationship is the rest of the story.

The Awws (Awesome things)
1. The narration - it doesn't lag or rush anywhere (at least in the first book)
2. The Unclear Clear explanations - the BDSM stuffs specified are clear to understand but still concealed so that the readers don't feel disgusted.
3. Story: Unlike many erotic novels this novel does have a story

The Oopsss
1. Unwanted length of the book. Although the book has a good narration we can't read more than 300 pages especially when the content is controversial. 500+ pages is unwanted.
2. More clear characterization of female protagonist should have been given. What is the point in having 500+ pages and all we can infer about the female lead is that she is a plain Jane who desires the hot male lead??

Bottom line: Although this book has mixed reviews still this book is worth read once, especially to know about the different ways to express desire.

P.S: Completed Book 2 in the trilogy (nothing to write about it, still will upload a review), Started with the 3rd book.

Cheers,
Tanya

My hostel... :)

Hostel - the general perception about it is aversion, bad food, strictness, ragging, rules. Well my hostel had changed it all. To me hostel means everything. A home away from home. Hostel changed the way I think about everything. Although, i need to share my room with only one roommate we always end up with minimum 6 to 8 people in a room. Thanks to my college we have a well furnished and almost well maintained (don't kick me gals) rooms or can we call it a flat because we do have all 2 bedrooms, washroom, kitchen, corridor, terrace, etc.

What I learnt from my hostel life?
  • To share - not only feelings but also Surf Excel  :P that is the one we share more than anything
  • To adjust - no one can ever master the art of adjusting but still we learnt as much as needed
  • To be silent - to those who all think hostel is all about chatting they don't know the true side. We used to be silent when one of us gets upset. Silence conveys more than long speeches.
  • To love unconditionally - although everyone has flaws i learnt to love unconditionally.
  • To be myself - my hostel is one place where i am myself.
Who is who to me in hostel??? So here it goes the testimonial about you guys.

I am using nick names so that only you people know who i mean

  • The Bunny: Hey bunny, need to tell you i could never ever think of anyone as my room mate even kitty katty. She is my sweetie but still i love you too.. I have never told u how much you mean to me. The late night sleepy chats, midnight food, afternoon naps, evening soap operas, the times me sulk away, everything including the polka dots i can never forget anything.
  • The Kitty - Katty: You are my sweetie. I love the way we chat and i feel a little useful for studying cse only wen you ask doubts. I like the way we share things and feelings although bunny knows more its just that i like talking to you because you do free yourselves when i come. I learnt a lot from you especially cleaning room, tapping while oiling, etc.
  • My Kiddo:  Aww sweety that's one term i can ever tell you. You are my kid sister, a daughter, everything. I never felt even a single problem with you. You are the best kiddo any mom can have. I envy your mom. I always felt that over protective nature on you.
  • Ms. Pretty NCC: Sorry for framing u this nickname all of a sudden. You are someone i really admire. I love your elegance, your guts, your attitude everything. Many a times i have made you angry but still that was all coincidences and i won't tell a sorry friends ko sorry nahi bolte hai na? I wish you a gud luck in ur company :P
  • Puku: oye puku... u r cute sweet and pretty girl. I learnt even being silent attracts others on the other hand you bring the hell down when you crack jokes. Remember that "she has boyfriend know why he is still asking her out" incident. OMG i still LOL. I must say this i really admire your culinary skills even wen the food is hot and spicy.
  • Bahini: Oye tu to itna gappe marti hai that anyone will be your friends soon and your habit of knocking doors damn so naughty. You are someone who can easily be anyone's friend.
  • Jun: you are the nerd among us. We all feel Penny and you are the Sheldon :P just kidding.
Well miss you all. And i miss Shristy, bandana, evan, richa, deepa too... :) Shristy am definitely naming my daughter after you. You are the most sweet girl i ever met (P.S with a cute name).

Cheers,
Love you
Sri

Chennai to Secundrabad

Most of you would have listened the track d d d dilli dilli dilli....(NOKJ); well i feel like singing ch ch Chennai Chennai Chennai (cos am missing Chennai); As the NOKJ movie starts with the dialogue "Dilli is all about paisa, power, position"; Secundrabad (Hyderabad too) is all about "Fashion, Fun, Food". Located about 600 + km away from Chennai, Secundrabad is a land of mixed reviews.
Well Secundrabad is a home away from home for me. Although, i have been here since i was 4 years old for vacations, when it comes to settling in a place, we check out many things that are although far away from being important influence us.Few of the things are:
Lemme start with the negative stuffs;
1. Traffic: Being a Chennaite, i know a lot about about traffic & experienced a lot or should i saw suffered a lot, be it driving a 2/4 wheeler or even sitting inside bus/ in pillion, traffic jam irritates. Now if u have felt all these in Chennai, then Secundrabad is gonna frustrate you even more. Here for every 5m there is a speed breaker :( (driving a 2 wheeler wounds our back), roads are totally uneven with all pits & stones...
2. Weather: Summer sucks... well don't ask me is summer awesome in Chennai..at-least there is beach nearby in Chennai, that rejuvenates us. Here the sun really sucks your body glucose as in ads. (U can never ever step out without a proper sunscreen)
3. People: With this t-talk on the run for months, people are racists (not all, but many); although you can mange with Hindi here in most of the cases; u gotta speak Telugu with local ppl(vendors, kurkas, etc) cos they see u as a filth if you don't converse in Telugu

Now the positives;
1. Fashion: From a just born to just-to-be-dead, every one is beauty conscious, (it's lil bit negative too; imagine a 50 year old wearing legging & skinny top???); but being here, fashion maniacs like me can be on par with upcoming styles. Chennai gets the fashion stuffs nearly months later than its other metropolitan counterparts, but Secundrabad has all well fashioned & stylish stuffs in market as soon as India adopts it.
2. Fun: When its all about coffee, afternoon lunches, evening movies etc in Chennai; Secundrabad is all about night outs, the real hi-tech city never sleeps.
3. Food: From Paratas to Rotis, Currys to Gravys, Biriyanis to Pulavs, Dosas to Upmas, Chats to Junk... name it u can have it... but unlike Chennai chat stalls & hotels where aloo (potato) is main ingredient, thus making you fat, is neglected here, so whatever u eat, u can be carefree about your shape, cos street food here are very less in calories & fats.
4. Boys: Well, life here is "mujse dosti karoge??"; "can we have a coffee??"; "Will you dance wimme?"; Guys here are like BFF type, some are just looking/dating type; not much into serious commitments. (well, then again heres a warning, befriend people at your own risk; cos u never know wen one things leads to another) If you are in need of jus friends then say guys clearly, they will understand. (P.S: about girls i seriously dnt know, cos dint befriend one yet, most of the gals are stylish, hard to find homely gals & abt their char, will say wen i get friends here in girls) (P.S: I like Chennai guys too in character, care, affection; but guys in Secundrabad are more stylish, less egoistic, less chauvinistic, more pampering :P like in Bwood movies)

Well this is Secundrabad - The City Of 3Fs "Fashion, Fun, Food" & am loving it... :) :)Will come up with a next blog about AP Tourism :)
